Cider from Hardanger

Alvavoll Frukt- og Sidergard is located right above the centre of Lofthus in Hardanger, the prime region of fruit and cider production i Norway. «Cider from Hardanger» is a protected origin name, just like «Champagne».

At Alvavoll we produce apples, pears, plums, cherries, honey, apple juice and cider, which we sell from our farm shop.

We also offer apple juice and cider tastings for groups (remember to book in advance), either inside (“Munkekjellaren”) or outside. The tastings may be combined with food and guided orchard walks.

Every Saturday: Orchard walks with cider tasting

We offer guided orchard walks with cider tasting every Saturday at 4 pm. Please call +47 938 34 169 or use our contact form to book.

Terroirs, Soil and cLIMATE

The secret behind the unique taste of the fruit and cider from Hardanger is the long and not too hot summer days. In summer, the days are much longer here than in countries further south. The fruit gets more light and sun just when it needs it.

Add to that the fjord, the mountains, the God-given soil and the climatic conditions, and you have a good explanation for what it is that makes the aromatics and fruit acid develop the unique Hardanger flavour.
